Wild Rice

Not so healthy, but oh so good. Over the years, we have streamlined this recipe, omitting the butter and using much less bacon. One of the favorites of Scott's family from the olden days.
  • 8 oz. wild rice
  • 12 strips of bacon, cut into 1/2" bits
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cube butter
Rinse the rice in cold water until clear. Cook the rice in a rice cooker using the directions for wild rice.

Cook the bacon in a large skillet. Leave about 1/4 c. bacon grease. Add butter (if using) and saute onion until tender. Add cooked rice and mix everything together in the skillet. Add salt to taste. Print Friendly and PDF
