Thanksgiving Day Leftovers
Some in our family (Scott?) think the leftovers are the best part of Thanksgiving. Beyond the ubiquitous and beloved turkey sandwich, here are few ideas and tips on reheating.
GRAVY
GRAVY
- To reheat gravy add a bit of stock or water to the gravy and reheat, covered, in the microwave.
- To reheat mashed potatoes, add a bit of milk to the mashed potatoes and reheat, covered, in the microwave.
- Potato pancakes
- Breakfast hash with sunny side up eggs -- amazing!!
- Stuffing waffles - use a belgian waffle maker for best results. And a sunny side up is perfect!
TURKEY SOUP This is such an amazing way to use up leftovers.
- Carcass
- Carrots, Onions (or leeks), Celery chunks
- Water to cover the carcass
- 2 bay leaves, a few pepper corns
- Barley, Rice or Noodles
SHEPHERD'S PIE Does it get easier?
Leftover gravy for the sauce, mashed potatoes for the topping turkey chunks, veggies for the inside. Yummm. And it freezes.
